forward user emails to ISP account?

By authorship ·
I have some users that have Exchange account xxxx@adusainc.com for instance and they want to have all of their emails forwarded to, for example, their account on AOL or yahoo.

Can anyone tell me how to set that up? Is it on Exchange 2000 server or do they set that on their Outlook client?

Thanks!
David

Two ways to do it:

1. Delete their mailbox, and recreate them as a special address, pointing to the new mail address. This would be done, for example, for former employees. This is done on the Exchange server.

2. Create a rule which forwards all mail as it arrives. You do this from the rules wizard in Outlook while logged in as that user. The user can do this himself, and it gives him better control (for example, he can keep a copy).

Good luck.

Can you tell me how to set up the forwarding to an address outside of Exchange, such as an AOL account? I see how to forward to a person or group but it always brings up a list of Exchange accounts and I need to forward outside.

Thanks,
David

AAAGH!!

As a system admin/Architect for Lotus Notes/Domino, I have had the self same request many times. All Corporations I have worked for have absolutely vetoed the idea at senior level, there is no way to control the information that goes out to the ISP based mail system. Some or all of it could be very confidential, and as we all know, public ISP mail is not always as secure as we might wish....Just a gentle warning....
