We use FoxPro for DOS (v2.6) as our record management system database. When we ran it on 200 Mhz PCs loaded with Win 95, the program ran OK. Now, after we upgraded the PCs to 1.2 Ghz with Win98SE, we have had nothing but problems. Our users keep receiving Windows error messages such as “invalid instruction”, “invalid operation” type messages which I think pertain to attempts at accessing memory. I’ve tried tweaking the settings in the program’s “advanced” tab and “memory” tab to no avail. Now we get FoxPro “internal consistency error” messages from time to time. I heard that there is a possible fix for a processor that is above 300Mhz, at http://www.vss-inc.com/slowstart.htm. It also refers to a “fix” from Microsoft [PATCH: Patch_26.exe Fixes Divide by Zero Error on Fast Computers (Q240982)]
Could this be related to my specific problem? Unfortunately, I’m not a programmer and don’t want to start loading “fixes” without some guidance first.
