I have an application that runs on Foxpro. As soon as I installed a new printer (HP4050)with NDPS and the latest printer drivers, the Foxpro program halts when trying to print any report. Office, Notes, and all other apps print just fine to the NDPSprinter. The client is a Win95 workstation, with the Default printer set to the NDPS printer. Port is listed as \\NDPS01. The problem is with the Foxpro application and not Novell or NDPS. Foxpro has problems with certain printer drivers, including the HP 4050. We recently ran into the same problem. The first thing we tried was to use only the HP40505le drivers. This helped, but wasn't a total fix. The next thing we did was to upgrade the visual basic dll files (vp6r.dll, vfp6renu.dll, & vfp6t.dll)in the windows\system directories on the PC's. This fixed the problem.
We first had to uninstall all the 4050 drivers until none showed up in windows available drivers list when trying to add a new printer. If a 4050 driver was listed as available, we would select that printer, finish the install, then delete the printer and tell it YES to remove all files associated with that printer. Then we would go through the "add aprinter" routine to insure there were no 4050 driveres listed as being available. The date of the three updated dll files is 5/10/2000.
Thank you so much for the suggestion. This has been a problem for over 2 months. I put the PCL5le drivers on the workstation and copied the 3 .dll files to C:\windows\system. Now when I try to print, I get a new and different error. The window saysHPBFFB1.drv Pure virtual function called and then the program terminates. Any more suggestions?
