Freeware to capture video from DVD...

By boxfiddler Moderator ·
I'm looking for a freeware program that will let me capture video from my DVD's. Any suggestions please?

Easy as possible preferably, total n00b to video play.

Thanks.

The are the two that I use :)

as they are pretty simple. These are newer Versions but they should be OK.
I use DVD Decrypter to copy them and DVD Shrink to burn them.

DVD Decrypter

DVD Shrink

Will these let me cut bits and pieces out of the whole?

That is the reason :)

that I use DVD Shrink to manipulate the Video. You won't be able to edit the actual Movie.

I played around with a few packages

a few years back, to edit commercials out of the DVD's I burned from TV.
I found a few decent ones, however they were a bit time consuming and not 'easy'.

Of course DVD decryptor (as mentioned -- shame, shame, shame) will allow to dupe movies (dont ask how I know)(and no, I dont dupe movies)

I backup every DVD :)

AnyDVD and AnyDVD HD will do what TB's stuff does, just maybe in a different way and style.

Boxy there are better options available than DVD Shrink

I used ti use it a bit and found that some DVDs that I bought couldn't be worked with owing to the Encryption Methods used. You have to regularly update the Decryption Side of things and Any DVD was good within Limits.

I now predominately use DVD neXt Copy which isn't freeware but it works much better for 95% of all copying.

For the other 5% I use DVD Fab Decryptor and or Copy DVD both of these are now Pay For Software DVD Decryptor used to have a Free and Pay For Version now they only have the Pay for version which does it all rip to I Pod and so on if you want works fairly well for a lot of different DVDs but is slower than DVD neXt Copy.

Though they do have a 30 Day Trial Version available for Download which works for the 30 Days and then you need to purchase a Registration Code to Activate it. Then there is 123 Copy DVD which has a 1 Day Trail version available here

DVD Shrink is a freeware application but needs a Decryptor Program like DVD Anywhere which is now a pay for utility but you can use DVD43 though with some systems it does cause problems.

DVD Shrink

Any DVD

DVD 43

I haven't found any Software that will allow me to capture Scenes from a Commercial DVD as I would like to grab some stills from Team America but I have to either copy every DVD that is brought into this house between the Nephews and the Mother they try to ruin every Disc that they lay their hands on and it's got quite expensive cleaning them with a commercial Cleaning System now it's costing me $3.00 per Disc but it get rid of any scratches that the Disc's get. However when you have 10 or 20 disc's that need cleaning it's fairly expensive and all too common.

The kids place dirty fingers all over the surface of the disc's and the Mother somehow manages to scratch them so badly that they are unreadable.

If you want Freeware you only have DVD Shrink and DVD 43 pounced DVD for free that will do the job but both have severe limitations. Both DVD neXt Copy and 123 Copy DVD have regular Updates available and seem to work quite well.

OH BTW Team America has the Absolutely Best Porn Scenes that I have ever seen in a American Movie that is if you can call Marionettes in action Porn. Everyone that see this movie bursts into peels of laughter and they all want copies. I could make a Killing if I was a Pirate.

Try using Windows Movie Maker you can deconstruct and build with it I'm told.

I think that is what you need if it's not already on your system.
