I am trying to wipe a drive and do a fresh reinstall of xp pro, for some reason windows cannot access my hard drive i think it may be locked. Anyhow, I wiped it once with KillDisk and used a reinstallation disk, seemed to work fine, but then I couldn’t get into windows b/c I didn’t know the Administrator password. So, I tried safe mode with noluck. Next, I tried Offline NT Password & Registry Editor with which I unlocked and reset all user accounts multiple times. This said it worked, but didn’t. I think I read somewhere after the fact (of course) that you’re only supposed to reset one account. Next, I tried resetting the administrator password with NTFS4DOS and Password reset 2.5 which I’ve purchased and used b4 successfully. But this didn’t work! So I tried KillDisk again and it hangs up. Now, it still says setup cannot access this disk. And I get a blue screen error:
***STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005,0xF77F9CFD,0xF73DF800,0x00000000)
and ***setupdd.sys – Address F77F9CFD base at F77D0000, DateStamp 3d6dd67f.
Now I’ve got it screwed up again and I’ve spent many hours and I’m calling it a night. Oh, I forgot to tell the 3 other things I tried… 1 was Ultimate Boot Disk, 2 was dban1.0.7, and 3 was ophcrack(this one seems like it would work, but I got tired and decided to give up like I am with this post) Perhaps someone can make some sense from this ramble of a post!!! LOL So I’ll check back tommorrow and see what some of you super dedicated and awesomely helpful people have to say!! Thanks for listening and I’m out. 😛 Whew!!
Sincerely,
Frustrated MS user
