Friday's Quiz

By cupcake ·
So my soon-to-be former manager has up and taken some time off
before he moves to his new assignment.

So, I have agreed to provide today's puzzle in his absence.
Unfortunately, for my team, the first puzzle was too easy and solved
quickly, so I offered up a second.

The first:

Brad stared through the dirty soot-smeared window on the 22nd floor
of the office tower. Overcome with depression he slid the window
open and jumped through it. It was a sheer drop outside the building
to the ground. Miraculously after he landed he was completely unhurt.
Since there was nothing to cushion his fall or slow his descent, how
could he have survived the fall?

The second:

Four men sat down to play. They played all night till break of day. They
played for gold and not for fun. With separate scores for everyone.
When they had come to square accounts. They all had made quite fair
amounts. Can you the paradox explain. If no one lost, how all could

I suppose Brad landed on the 22nd story balcony, or perhaps on the roof of a 21-story building next door.

I don't know about your card players. I suppose either they are all bad accountants, or had all lost money and then regained most it through the course of play.

for #1
What was the 'ground' made of? Was it a solid or a deep pocket of Peat Moss?

for #2 what game was being played? Were they playing slots?

My (so far) answer for 2 was that there was a pot from the week(s) before that got drained a bit.

The "ground" is the same, normal expectations of what the
ground should be... nothing special in its makeup or
appearance or solidity

No, the players were not playing slots.

And you're answer is incorrect, there was no "pot" from the
week before.

one and none

The first doesn't say anything about jumping outside the building. he could have jumped in through the window, or jumped through an interior window.

The second I assume has an answer that also rhymes with the question?

Possible answers

by Locrian_Lyric In reply to Friday's Quiz

1) Brad was outside the building and jumped in

2)The four players were not playing each other.

by cupcake In reply to Possible answers

1) Correct... "Brad" was tired of washing windows, so he
opened the window and jumped into the building

2) Perhaps the possible answer is on the right track, but... I
will further add that they players were playing with each
