Can I go from Being a PDC to a Stand Alone Server?

Without having to Reinstall?

No. In order to demote a former PDC to a member server, you must reinstall Windows NT Server.

There are a number of third party software packages capable of doing this. But is it worth the price? Just reinstalling will accomplish what your want as mentioned in the first response. If you reinstall promote another machine to PDC first or you will have problems.

Remove the xPDC from the domain, rename then reinstall. During the reinstall, install into the same directory but don't join a domain just a workgroup. This will force it into the stand alone server mode. After this is completed then join it to your domain as a member server.
