From techie to management.

by rickyj . Updated 25 years, 3 months ago

I was recently hired as the network manager for an extremely diverse non profit organization that is constantly changing. Currently we have several offices throughout the world. I am responsible for our LAN, and in the near future I’ll be overseeingadministrators in latin America. Previously almost all of our IT support came from an internationally known consulting firm.
It is my responsibility to lessen our dependence on them.

I am responsible for network availability, telecommunications, user support, firewall, lotus notes database development, policy etc.
I’ve always been a ‘techie’ working for various large organizations & never been on the management side before.
What/where are some resources (books, sites, peer advise etc) to help me to better understand all there is to be aware of in managing a network?
