    Front Page, user restricted sub-webs

    Locked

    by bron ·

I have set up my web-site using Front Page 2000. All is OK. Now I want to set up sub-webs with restricted access. I would like people to be able to enter their company name, user name and password and then based on the company name go to a specific sub-web. There I will have project specific information (set up using the project wizard).

I have a FP book, but it’s not very clear on this. It does talk about the user registration wizard, but this isn’t really what I want. I want to be able to set up the users myself and then allow access to the sub-web.

I’m looking for a) is this possible, b) presuming it is, how is the best way to set it up and c) an understanding of how secure this is likely to be (and if I should do anythingto address this).

You picked the 1 topic that very complex in the sense of lots of details. This is possable, several different methods according to your web design. I have chosen CGI Scripts to provide this function. The other methods are also code or script intensive. There is no way for me to answer your question, but I will try to point you in the right direction. E-mail me & I will send you some docs I have on web scripting. Here are some links to helpful sites as well:
      http://javascript.com/
      http://javascript.internet.com/
      http://www.javaside.com/
      http://www.formsite.com/
You will need to research to find out if you require a server based script, e-mail based script, cookie applications, etc.
Hope this helps start your journey. The hardest part is finding the app that works for you.
