FTP Access

By jason ·
I have a Windows NT4.0 PDC and a Windows 2000 member server on that domain. I want the FTP on the member server to use the accounts from the NT4.0 PDC to access files locally or over the network. I keep getting user not logged in errors and I have the appropriate permissions on the folders I want to access. Can someone shed some light?

First, make sure you are specifying the domain when logging on (i.e. logon as domain/username instead of just username).

Also check your file permissions at the root level of the ftp site. Say, for instance, your ftp root points to d:\ftproot, everyone that has access to d:\ftproot\private MUST also have at least READ access to d:\ftproot. Get it? You can't grant them access to a subfolder and without also granting them access to the parent folder. Email me, with details; I run a web hosting company here & I'm sure I could help.

when authenticating with ftp specify the domain account not the local account as you are doing.
Eg. domain/user and the corresponging password from the pdc sam database.
