ftp disconnection

i've setup a RH 7.2 as a server and i'm having problems with its ftp service. everytime i tried to connect through ftp, i got a reply "connection closed by remote host". i've check /etc/httpd.conf and its okay. i restart it but to no avail. what should i do to make it working? pls. help guys. wil.

Use linuxconf to check that the ftp deaemon is started in the inet services. httpd.conf is for web server.

2 things to look at.

1) You might have firewalling enabled. Run the command "lokkit" and configure your firewall accordingly.

2) RH 7.2 uses xinetd rather then inetd by default. So you will have to go into the directory /etc/xinetd.d and look for a file called wu-ftpd. If it is not there then you will need to install it. After install you need to edit this file to enable ftp connections. Then restart xinetd (e.g. # service xinetd restart)
