ftp in windows

I need help in getting files from my home computer to a drive on a work computer after i vpn in… here is what i normally do, vpn into the system, map the drive ..and try to copy and paste the file from my computer over to the server at work… butthis never works.. and someone suggested that i should try FTP… how would i go about using FTP? do i need a client like cuteftp? what needs to reside on the server (2000server) or is something there already? i’m a beginner so any help would be great..thanks
