FTP nightmares

by sereniti . Updated 18 years, 6 months ago

Our IT guy dropped off the planet and I’ve been pressed into service until we can find a new one ? I?m ?just? the webmaster. Help!

We have a LAN (Windows Server 2003) and a Cisco PIX firewall. They were never configured completely properly and I don’t know how to troubleshoot them.

I can FTP to all our web sites using my workstation using Dreamweaver, Firefox’s FireFTP, and Adobe Contribute CS3. My boss wants to use Contribute CS3 to collaborate on our web sites. So this morning I installed it on his laptop and configured it.

When it tries to connect, a dialog box opens and says, “The server is down or not accepting any connections,” even though I’m connecting as noted above from my own computer.

I installed Firefox on his laptop, added FireFTP and attempted to ftp into the site. It says, “Unable to connect.”

I tried ftp://www.amerigocompanies.com/ from IE 7.0 – also unable to connect.

The laptop is connected to the Internet in exactly the same manner that my workstation is connected. It goes through the same firewall.

I know this isn’t enough information, but I?d like someone to please point me in the right direction to at least start troubleshooting this.
