FTP Problem

By jvines ·
I have installed FTP on a server for client access and given full rights to the directory to everyone. The client can download files fine but wants to delete the files after he downloads them. The server only allows him to delete 3 or 4 files then gives an ACCESS DENIED on the next file. if I reboot the server he can delete 3 or 4 more files then gets ACCESS DENIED again. All files show only archive bit set. NO Read ONLY files.
Microsoft has been trying to reproduce the problem for 3 weeks andcan't so they have no solution. HELP !!!

FTP Problem

On the FTP server console, use the command line FTP utility and start an FTP session to itself, logging in with the same account ID and password as your client. Then attempt the same same file deleteion (DEL <filename&gt.

If you have the same problem, I would assume it is your FTP Service. You will probably want to remove it an reinstall.

If you do not have the same problem, then it is more likely a problem with your client's FTP client software, or a an intermediary communication link, such as a proxy server.

Basically if it works from the console, continue the same test from a workstation crosslinked directly into the NIC of the FTP server. Then farther down the line on the other side of you router, finally moving the the client's network and using a differnt client station, and/or different FTP client software.

Microsoft's per-incident support has seemed to have lost some of it's past quality.
