ftp program

My server is sbs 2000, I want to run a ftp program from my workstation but the server blocks the connect, how can I get the server to let the connection though

First, check if the server has its ftp service enable. If the ftp was enable, check if the ftp service requires username and password to login, which should be that way.

I am assuming that you confirmed the ftp services are installed and turned on. Are you using any type of firewall? If you have a specific packet filter that blocks TCP ports 20 and/or 21 that will block connectivity to your server. You may try to ftp in dos from your workstation to the server. This can be done from the command line. Type ftp server_ip and press enter. This will try to connect you to the server FTP dervice, if you connect, then you will be asked id and password. Type them in to test they are right.
