FTP site access

by robinarm . Updated 25 years, 5 months ago

I’m having a problem conecting to an FTP site on an NT4 server running MS Proxy 2 and IIS4. When accessing the site via the LAN, if I type (on the command line) “ftp ftp.domainname.co.uk” I get a message saying ftp: connect: 10061
then if I try a “dir” I get a message saying I’m not connected. I can connect with “ftp www.domainname.co.uk” (via the LAN) and log in as normal, I can also connect through the network using “ftp servername” I only get the error using “ftp ftp.domainname.co.uk”.

Using the Internet to access the same site I get that message regardless of the name I use (ftp. www.). The company I work for leases an ISDN line and Cisco Router from a fairly large and well respected company and they also handle our DNS records. I’ve asked them to check out their end but so far they say they can see nothing wrong. The FTP site was working fine until just recently our E-mail server and Internet access is fine also (we don’t presently host a WWW site).

Any ideas??
