    ftp user access

    Locked

    by doris ·

I am running a windows 2000 server and have set up a ftp site. I am using anonymous sign on and have restricted permissions to read and log visits. I would like to give the write permission to one user and read permission for everyone else. How can I do this.

Highlight the site in the scope pane of the internet Services Manager MMC, right click and select properties. go to the Security accounts tab. You can add ftp site operators and change the rights for your user(s) as needed. beware that FTP sends passwords in clear text which could compromize your security. Also, Checking the allow IIS to control passwords can result in having a users AD password overwritten. I would make sure that the password for the user that has write access changes very frequently.
