FTP Win 2000 Error

I have a Windows 2000 Server running FTP I keep getting the following errors, any suggestions.

Status: Connecting to ftp data socket 10.10.50.xxx

Error: Cant connect to remote server, socket error = # 10060

error:Failed to establish data socket

Hi,
first things first, try pinging the box in question..if you get a reply you may still have a firewall issue. check that the port and ip address are correct and that the port is not blocked by firewall software or on a router..more info is needed to advise further,

Just to add on, try disabling "Enable folder view for ftp sites" in IE as well as setting IE to use passive FTP. This will force IE to use other ports to connect for FTP other than 21. Many companies have their firewall settings restricted so thatactive FTP is unavailable.
