Locked

FTP with XP home

By ccthompson ·
Ok,

The boss(CEO) is the only person having problems with this. When he goes to our ftp site, he get there ok. I mean he can see the folders. But when he tries to open the pictures, word docs, or spreadsheets, he gets denied, "Page cannot be displayed"

I figured his IE was screwed up or locked down too much, no go. Everything I have tried has not made a differance. I know he has IE v6. But I am unsure what Service Pack he has or if any. (SP1 i think, his machine is too old to handle SP2)

The only reason I am unsure what he has, is he is always traveling, always very busy, never has time for me to walk him through some stuff,ect...

I tried to install firefox, i get an error 425 when i try to access our site. Which may be part of the problem. Maybe the server cant make a connection back, but it does with everyone else. Firefox doesnt work at all for anyone!

My IIS(FTP) server is behind a Linksys firewall, with proper ports pointing to proper server IP address.

So in other words, is there a tool I can get to check the connectivety from his machine to our site. Like a tracker??

Any ideas would be very helpful. Solutions would be ideal!

Thanks everyone!

How are you authenticating to the site?

What groups have been assigned permissions?

Is the boss in that security group?

227 Entering Passive Mode (192,168,0,2,12,137).
Opening data connection IP: 192.168.0.x PORT: 3209.
A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.
PORT 64,91,146,62,7,189

After this, it starts ok, Im not sure they problem.

BfilmFan: The site is setup through Anonymous Access, the user does have logon locally privledge.

I think its a client thing because its only him, through IE

But then, I also think it could be a router,DNS,server Thing because Firefox cannot connect to it, and as above.... SmartFTP seems to have a little trouble.

Thanks!
