ftp wont connect , using ftp pub svc for IIS07

By XnavyDK ·
I have an FTP site created, using iis6 on an o8 server checked over all the authentication (not anonymous). Changed the port from 21 to another port, checked all the folders to make sure they had the correct virtual path assigned. Cannot get past the directory, access denied. IIS shows me connected but would not allow me to access the directory. So deleted the role iis6 off and installed the 07 ftp publishing service. yea its new, yea its more complex. Now i cant get a connection at all. FTP is running, V directories are all mapped to the right folders. but still no bueno. Any ideas?

Open port's 21 and 20 on the firewall? along with check IE Properties, advanced tab, enable FTP folder View and possibly uncheck Passive FTP... Thats what I always do.... also you could run in CMD, "netstat -a" and check to see that its listening on the proper ports...

I unchecked passive, I have it on a port I know is open, used it before I "upgraded" servers os. the directories are the same one I used on old os. something is blocking me , I just dont know what. the firewall has allow on the inc/out ports I used. using ftp browser not IE to connect.

there are several layers of authentication on the IIS7

i had too many

i went thru all of them turned them all off

then i went thru and turned on the IIS manager and Basic auth, and changed the SSL to allow and bingo.

Thanks TK got me on the right road
