Fujitsu MPG3204AT Hard drive failures?

By jheinle ·
I am looking for anyone who has had a Fujitsu 20.4Gb (MPG3204AT) fail within 18 months of the purchase date. As a technician, I have seen a abnormally high failure rate on these particular drives.

If you are kind enough to respond, please answer the following questions:
1. What is the date of manufacture?
2. What is the serial number?
3. What is the model?
4. How long did you own it before it failed?
5. In your opinion, what was the cause of the failure?
6. Was you drive replaced under warranty by the PC manufacturer or Fujitsu?
7. Was any critical data lost?
8. If so was it sent away for data recovery.
9. Was data recovery sucessful?

All responses will be compiled and forwarded to a class action lawyer.

Thanks in advance.

I have a MPG3204AH 20GB

Bit the dust. Well I can still get to the files. My client's new Compaq DeskPro(7/01) started acting up last week. Thought at first it might be the MB (other probs.... Video, NIC, etc. but I replaced that and the problem with the hard drive not being reconized every-other time he booted persisted. I am waiting till Monday to see him again and call HP\Compaq to replace the hard drive. I have a couple of these units still in operation and I am considering replacing them all.
Data recovery was accomplished in house. No critical data lost.
Model above. SN VL10T500V4G DATE:5/01
