fujitsu siemens amilo v2030 Bios infection suspected

Just to bring you up to speed:-
Batteries have been removed for several days.
back up battery terminal has been crossed.
kill disk has been run on the hard drive followed by formatting.
o/s xp home oem has been installed.

faults remain:
no key board function.
no display, unless I plug in an additional remote monitor for the first few seconds of
boot up the laptop monitor performs perfectly.
keyboard control is by way of a zippy mini usb keyboard. so I can not perform a default
bios reboot. I suspect the machine has had a virus which has taken out the bios partially.
my question are,to anyone, has any one
experienced an infection related to the bios?
what course of action rectified the problem?
was it successfull?
I approached Fujitsu Siemens but thier response was "bin it, buy a new machine"
I accept the machine has a problem, but i feel
that dumping the machine seems a bit drastic since in general it still works, but restoring
mobility would be a bonus, it is inconvenient plugging the machine into another monitor just to fire up the machine.Any assistance would be
very much appreciated?
regards Richard
