Funky graphics

By house ·
I have a pc with a pci Radeon 7500 installed. I know that some games just won't work with certain video cards. My problem is this...With 2k installed, some games actually work fine, with xp I get funky neon colors for video (and vice versa with other games - work on xp but not 2k). I've tried different drivers, tried compatibility mode. I realize that this is a video rendering compatibility problem. This only happens with a very small % of games. Maybe only one out of every thirty or forty.
My question is - does anybody know of a software/configuration solution. There is a wicked game called the Suffering that I want to play, but since the pc is an xp now, it won't run properly...and I do not want to resort to using my integrated video for performance sake.
I could just slap it on another machine, but I would like some insight into this kind of activity.

I had the same problem with Tiger Woods Golf. I went to the website for game support and right on the main page was the new patch needed for the game to be played on XP. I downloaded the patch and am now hitting 400 yard drives. :) Try the game's website to see if they have a patch for XP. I think that you will be happy with your findings.

The game is fairly new. A game patch for XP is not the issue at all. Some manufacturers will be blunt to say that they do not support certain cards. What I am interested in is dxdiag tweaking and advanced display settings that contribute to this kind of activity. Video rendering issues have made the display very "flat" with very bright colors. In very few cases, a patch has resolved the issue.

No ATI guys here? I am interested in some advance dxdiag tweaks regarding dll's, settings, display settings. I've used programs before to mount games that used graphics technologies which never really took off. I haven't seen this for a while though.
