Funny looking filesin windows directory

Hi Fellow techs,

What are the funny looking temporary files in the windows directory for or how/why are they created?

e.g fffe074d_{B74B2841-110E-11D8-AB35-009027CEF103}.tmp

These are just useless temp files created when you are vuiewing online video clips or applets.

You can delete these without consequence.

I deleted them without any consequences. One thing that I noticed though is that when the number of these files is high, hundreds or somtimes over 2000, the system runs very slow and removing these files greatly improves performance.

they are created By microsoft office every time you start your computer..

they are just temp can safely delete them..

best of all if you want not to have them again..disable Office update from the startup menu.

Start-->.run then type Msconfig

then click the startup tab..
and uncheck the enteries related to Office update..

Hi everyone,

Noticed this question and the answers and wondered
if other programs have temp files in this location? I have removed the Temp folder and
files at times and ended up with various programs
bringing up error messages I then had to work through.
