Future Database Uses

By vlpresher ·
I am writing a paper on the future uses of databases. Any suggestions on locations to look for information on future database uses?

I'd recommend looking over back issues of Information Week for ideas.

No joke but use your own imagination and perhaps a little sci fi. Try the "Library of Babel" or the Sir Issac Asimov's Foundation stories (also the robot stories, at least acording to Daneel!?).

Hope this helps . . .

Try the IEEE transactions on computing. You'll have to join, about $100/year and more for additional journals you can read online.

books24x7.com has thousands of books on computing, hundreds on databases, many with ideas for future directions. subscriptions site.

I would review the Bill Inmon book The Corporate Information Factory.. Inmon is considered by many to be the father of the data warehouse. The concepts in this book seem to layout a long term vision of how databases will be used in enterprises in the future.
