FVS318v3 VPN ok but “page cannot be displayed” !

by martinmills . Updated 18 years, 6 months ago

I have successfully set up several remote VPN links back to our main site.

However, at one particular site I cannot get internet access.

In Netgear’s diagnostics I can lookup and resolve a URL ok.

If I ping a URL on any client PC it resolves the IP address but does not reply (DNS ok?).

I’m using a bridged Netgear DSG652 modem.

My ISP (BT) is static IP with subnet mask 255.255.255.255.

I am using the same ISP (BT) at one other site using a FVS114 and is working fine.

I have tried pretty much all I can muster including MAC spoofing.

I have compared routing tables between this and a good site, and this one has only 2 entries whereas the “good” site has 5!
Bad site:
0.0.0.0 – 0.0.0.0 – n.n.n.80
10.5.30.0 – 255.255.255.0 – 10.5.30.1

Good site:
Default – blank – n.n.n.28 – blank
10.5.40.0 – 255.255.255.0 – 10.5.40.1
10.5.40.1 – 255.255.255.255 – 10.5.40.1
n.n.n.0 – 255.255.255.0 – n.n.n.28
n.n.n.28 – 255.255.255.255 – n.n.n.28

I’m the only IT tech accross all sites; this site is a good 2 hour drive away so I have to be very careful not to loose connectivy when trying different settings!

The fact that the VPN works fine means the business is ok, so I want to minimise any down time.

Any help/advice please?
