Are you on a domain network?

If so, you may not have permission to see the files.
The files may also be hidden, in which case: click tools on the windows explorer, then Folder Options. Then choose view, then Show hidden files and folders.

Or are they just hidden?

Have you checked to make sure that the View settings in Folder Options are allowing you to see Hidden and System files?

If the files were encrypted, you could probably see them, but not open them.
