Garbage collection tuning

Hi,

My appl has pauses ie., it appears unresponsive after some time.

Will you please tell me how to tune the memory, and garbage collection.

Why do you think it's the GC that's causing a problem.

Normally the problem you describe is a tight processing loop in the UI Thread.

Nothing to do with the GC, simply that your application is too busy to process windows messages.

There are several solutions to that the easy, but naff one which more cures the symptoms than anything else. Is simply to call Application.DoEvents() at regular intervals.

In essence if you have to tune the GC, you are doing something wrong.
To learn how to 'tune' memory, you need to know how the GC works, and how your code works and then try to write GC friendly code.
