i recently was given a Gateway 6518gz and it was having subtle power issues. every once in a while the screen would become dim and then bright (obviously he ac/battery was going back and forth)
So the DC jack is probably loose, need repair through resoldering or replacing. My question is
a) where can a service like this be performed for a small price ( I have found many sites online, but I am weary of sending my laptop to a site where the store ins made in Zen-cart), OR
b)is there an online dismantling tutorial? I have tried soldering it myself but even though I successfully took everything apart, the dc jack is enclosed by the bottom of the notebook, and I dont want to risk damaging the computer to get to it.
