Generic USB 4 Port Hub

By hudson.140 ·
After waxing a systems hard drive and reloading WIN98 SE, I've had this "New Hardware Dectected" box appear after loading windows. I've tried removing it from the system folder in the control panel, using the Win98 SE CD to load drivers for this, but with no luck. Anyone have a suggestion, on how to remove this dialog box, or where to get drivers for this device? I don't even remember what the brand name is, I bought it a Comp-USA, is all I remember.

Thanks

You may want to look at the card if it is internal. Usually the brand name is on the card. Once you have that, go to Download.com for the drivers or www.driversguide.com.

Hope this helps.

Are you sure that the device is your external hub, and not the root USB hub on the MB.

Try going to the MB or chipset mfg website and downloading the latest drivers.
I believe this will correct the problem.

I believe that this may be OK. I did the same thing with my Win 2k computer after purchasing my hub. It installed as "Generic USB Hub". I deleted it and tried to install the "proper" driver. There wasn't one and the hub works great. I believe that Hubs use the "Generic Hub" driver. Hope this helps, I don't know for sure though...
