Generic USB Drive NOT recognised in WIndows XP

by julius181 . Updated 19 years ago

Hi All…

I have a very strange situation going on here in the office. The other day we purchased a couple of 2GB USB Flash Drives and they all are recognised instantly and work perfectly on majoroty of machines… Until I plug tem into one desktop which is an IBM NetVista 8309-44A with Windows XP and SP2 and all Microsoft Updates current. This morning I even update dthe BIOS to the latest levels which I downloaded from IBM/Lenovo web site. WHen I place the Removable drive into the USB port I see the little red light on the drive flashing away madly, but the system does not appear to recognise the fact that it is there.

Logocal Disk Manger does not show any removable drives attached.

Both Logical Disk Manager Service and Logical Disk Manager Administrative Service are started.

Can anyone please shed some light on things here for me..???

Regards

Julius
