Getting a sata drive to work?!?

by bencaston . Updated 18 years, 9 months ago

ok here is the deal, I have a msi mobo and it has an onborad sata. I have a cd-rom hooked up through ide as well. Now when i boot the computer the bios does not detect the sata drive i have installed, it detects the cd-rom just fine. Now when I install windwos on the machine it WILL detect the drive just fine and install. That is when the Native Ide setting it selected. After i reboot it will not allow windows to boot up it just boots of the cd-rom. Now i have tired to change the Sata Channel settings to every selection with no luck. It the windows install will not detect the drive unless it is on Native Ide. But when i select to run legacy ide, It will boot to windows but blue screens right when it loads, and it wont detect the cd-rom in that mode. So it seems i can get one or the other to work, but still cant get windows to boot. Any ideas i have already replaced this board once and im about to through it at the wall!!!
