getting droped by RAS when intrnational

Any suggestions as to why when in the US Ras works great, but when travelk is needed, only our Win2000 laptops are getting dropped after about 2 min, and takes the 2-5 tries to establish conection.(win 98 & win95 do not have this problem from the same locations)
