getting from agp 1x to 2x

By sbhuck ·
I have enabled my agp, but is running only 1x mode even though my chipset and motherboard supports both 1x and 2x.
I have been into my bios and set AGP Mode2x, but my read out still says only AGP 1x is enabled, even though I could support 2x.
How do I get from 1x to 2x?
Ny sidebanding is still disabled even though it is supported, but fast-write not supported.
I am sure it may be something simple, but I already have a bios disastr, and I do not need another one.
For everyone's information in my bios there is not "agp video".
Thanks for any help
Wilbur Huck

The BIOS on the Systemboard must support AGP 2x

The BIOS on the Video Card must support AGP 2x

What video card are you using? Manufacturer and model?

Hi Wilbur,

You may need to install the latest AGP mini-port driver for the chip-set to enable AGP 2X support.

Sometimes, you need to flash both the motherboard and video card BIOS to get everything working.

The version of Windows, DirectX, and updates status can impact this also.

As far as I can tell my video card is made is Rage IIc Agp (english) (Directx). It does support both AGP 1x and 2x. I have also installed the latest driver update. Here is its staus:
VC Config
S/W Release version 5.20-C9K-WEB
Asic type: 3d rage IIc AGP
Video Memory: 4mb sdram
VGA Memeory Boundary: 4mp
Dac type: Built in
I/O address: d800h
Rom Version: 3.097
Bios P/N: 113-49302-101
VGA Functionality: Enabled
Aperature Status: 8mb @ 3664mb
Currrent Video mode: 320x240 60hz N.I. (32bpp)
that is as much information as I have been able to gather.
Perhaps this will help.
