Getting Mandatory and System policies to

By Shs_Bulldog ·
Got a promblem. I have set up a mandatory profile for a group of users and that works fine. But, I also want to be able to set up a system profile that will setup restriction with Poledit. I have got that working also. Only problem is that, In UserManager for Domains, there is only 1 box where it asks for Profile Path. Now, I can either set the path for the Mandatory Profile, or The .pol System Profile. I need to be able to use both so I can put restrictions on my Mandatory Profile. Thanks

Hi, two different things here. In user manager for domains, the profile path is for the mandatory profile. Policies are placed in the netlogon share which is \\winnt\system32\repl\import\scripts. For nt, put you'd create the folder ntconfig.pol; for9.x, config.pol. So, for nt: \\winnt\system32\repl\scripts\import\ntconfig.pol Replicate your scripts to bdcs (if applicable) so everyone you set up system policies for will get them. For policies, in poledit, you'd select the users who want to receive the system policies (edit|add user). Hope this helps. E-mail me if unclear:lvachon@consultant.com

The mandatory profile goes in Profile Path. The .pol file goes in C:|winnt\system32\repl\scripts\export on the server.

Hi, just a quick clarification on a path error I noted in my comment. When I said, "So, for winnt. . ." the full script path is: winnt\system32\Repl\Import\Scripts\ntconfig.pol (the first time I typed this I did it correctly, the second time I did not; sorry if this caused confusion.
