Getting my disk for Windows XP

By SUGARSNAP ·
I had a computer built by ibuypower.com. It worked fine for several years. A few months ago my hard drive died. I have a recovery disk, but when I tried to use it with new hard drive, I discovered that it will only work on the original hard drive because part of the programing is on it. Does anyone know, since I did pay for a license, how I can get them (or possibly microsoft) to provide me with a full XP Pro disk?

Thanks

Have you contacted them?

Contact ibuypower.com to see if they can help you with this problem? I have a HP recovery disc and it will work on any hard-drive.

I asked ibuypower a long time ago and they said all they provide with a new computer is a recovery disk. What no one told me is that it doesn't work except on the original hard drive (which, I guess has part of the programming.) Waiting to hear from Microsoft.

Is the recovery disk only there to boot a restore partition?

If so, your XP is gone, unless you still have that partition on the old drive.

What errors do you get when you try to use your recovery discs on your new hard-drive?
