Could anyone help me with advice to get photos off the hard disk drive of a broken laptop, I have bought the USB insert for them but they all seem to be encrypted, is there a way I can do this myself or send them somewhere to have the photos retrieved?

Re: decrypt

If the hard drive was encrypted by Microsofts Bitlocker and you know the 48 digit recovery key, there are programs that can decrypt it.
And there are programs that say they can do it without that key, but that's doubtful, because Bitlocker seems to use a very strong encryption.

Google for BITLOCKER 48-BIT RECOVERY.

But maybe you used another encryption program?
Anyway a tip for the future: always have an unencrypted backup (preferably 2) of data you store encrypted on a PC or laptop for security reasons.

If your hard disk is safe then take it out and connect it to a replacement computer. Then you can check it out
