I am looking to make a career jump from Systems Development (HOST Mainframe and some .Net development) to Network Administration. I recently lost my job at a major insurance company after 10 years of dedicated service. I blame some of that due to outsourcing, but that’s a whole different topic. My question to whoever would be kind enough to respond is the following: How do I get started? My plan of attack is to get my A+ and Network+ certificates but after that should I first try to acquire a job in that industry or continue to study for MCSA and MCSE exams? Are those even attainable goals without first working in the industry for a while? My goal is to end up working within the Network security industry.
