Getting the dual booting option.

By heesay ·
Hi,
I had two os installed in the computer(WIN XP, and WIN Vista). Very recently my window XP got corrupted and I installed fresh WIN XP again in Location /. I also have Win Vista in C drive. When I finished I could not find option of my OS WIN Vista after pressing F8. So, could any body help me to get my Win Vista, so that I can work with dual booting? I haven't done anything when I was installing windows XP. So can any body please send me the steps to get my Windows Vista also?...

Thanks
Yeshi.

boot.ini

by david.wallis In reply to Getting the dual booting ...

you can edit your boot.ini file

info is here -

http://vlaurie.com/computers2/Articles/bootini.htm

this is what a single boot system looks like

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

all you do is add another line pointing to your xp install.... you need to change the first line so it points at your vista install...

you can also edit the timeout to make th emenu appear for longer or shorter periods..

and you can change the text displayed on bootup :)
