I have been having an unusual problem with a client’s computer – he ran Norton Ghost 2003 from Windows to back up his system as I suggested that he do regularly, but this time instead of proceding to the DOS program and doing the backup, the system hangs at the black screen that asks if the Ghost program should begin or if the system should boot Windows XP. However, selecting one or the other has no effect – eventually a line appears saying Windows will be booting but the system just hangs there. If the restart button on the case is pushed, the same scenario ensues. I can start Windows XP from an NT startup floppy with no problem. My question is, where is the file that is causing the system to boot using the PC DOS? And how do I delete it so that windows will boot normally. Also, do you think the Norton Ghost has been corrupted?
