Ghost image of primary drive

Can I make a backup image of my primary drive using Norton Ghost onto a secondary drive without Windows XP Pro giving me the option of starting of either drive? This would only be used as a backup (Done once per week) in case of main drive failure which would only mean changing from slave to primary drive?
