Ghosting a Domain Controller?

I want to ghost my Domain Controller, and use it for back-up/Disaster recovery. I plan on doing weekly images of it to stay up to date. My Question is will the domain controller remain in a functioning state and online while the ghost is pulling the image?
Domain Controller: Dell Poweredge 2950
OS: Windows 2003 Server
Raid 5
