I have a client who is unable to download and open GIF files. I have tried to troubleshoot over the phone. We downloaded winzip and acrobat reader, not sure why she is still unable to open these files. after download she gets an option to open inART or BITmap but not GIF. After several attemps I will make a visit. But I was wondering if any one has any trouble shooting techniques in regards to this type of issue that i can take with me. Is there a way to change the file type to GIF she is running win2000. here is a link to the actual website that we are using under google search you can type masonic clipart… HELP

Have you/she tried opening IE or Netscape, then dragging the GIF onto the browser window? That will show if the format is good and point you to her view preferences.

Can she open other GIFs and it’s just this one site’s GIFs that are causing problems?

Assign the extention .gif to a program who can open gif file. Like Internet explorer, Microsoft photo editor, Paint… To change that open my computer–tools–Folder Options–File types–scroll down until you see GIF and change open with program.
