Gigabit Ethernet Server Adapters

By jramos ·
I am being said that I need Windows 2000 Advanced Server in order to install 2 or more Intel PRO/1000 XT Server Adapters using Adaptive Load Balancing. We used to do this with Windows NT 4.0 without any problem. We recently decided to migrate to Windows 2000 Server but we do not want to upgrade to Win 2000 Advance Server. We have nbot yet found product information to help us to deal with this issue. We would appreciate your help on this regard.
Thanks

You were told correctly... In order to get Load Balancing on Windows 2000 Servers, you must have Advanced Server. This software is designed around the ability to use a single shared hdd for clustering services.

An alternative might be to use separate unix-based machines designed solely for load-balancing.
Look at the Big-IP load-balancing hardware here:

You won't need Advanced Server if you go with a hardware solution to load-balancing.

Check the Intel site, I think they provide a driver to link the network cards giving load balancing / redundancy
