God to be held liable for Terrorist Threats?

by dr dij . Updated 18 years, 11 months ago

Ok, I couldn’t resist. This was the funniest thing I’ve seen. On HNN this morning, a Nebraska lawmaker is suing God. Claiming should be responsible for terrorist threats made.

First of all, to me God is an ideal not an actual being. It would be like suing the Easter Bunny for failing to bring an egg or suing the Tooth Fair or Santa Claus. (tho on Futurama it seems, the Evil Santa Claws[sic] DOES exist 🙂

And if just refering to the Bible, that is 2000+ years old, there may be a statue of limitations.

IF you believe that God DOES exist then is GOD responsible for ALL that goes on, e.g. Hurricane Katrina killed alot of people. And if God is everywhere and does everything then GOD is responsible for the Islamic terrorists actions also?

Or is it just the people like Pat Robertson calling for a ‘GodStrike’ [presumably not F-15’s but maybe a swarm of human headed locusts or the like] on a town of non-believers who should be held responsible?

And if ‘God’ is the ‘superuser’ maybe we can just type ‘Dog’ on the the universal console to get out of this mode?

I guess if God strikes me down for this post, then the Nebraska lawmaker is right.

BTW there is a good humorous article on avoiding death in the ‘end times – day of judgement’ in the current issue of Skeptical Inquirer
