Going back to win98 from 2000

By greatpcs ·
What is the best way to go back to win98se from win2000? We want to keep as much info, passwords, favorites, and apps on the current system as possible. Can I just do an install of win98 over 2000 or will I have problems? Thanks in advance

Uh..well.. Look. WIN98 and WIN 2K are REALLY different. In fact, other than the GUI looking a lot a like, they really don't have too much in common. (As far as the operating system is concerned..) While you can uninstall a service pack in WIN NT, Switching between WIN NT and WIN 95 is pretty much impossible.

My advise might meet with some resistance from my fellow WIN-TECHS but I believe that your time, in terms of cost, will be better spent re-formatting and then re-installing WIN98 and the applicable apps.

Sorry.

Even though WIN2K will read Fat32,you will not be able to do a backward install, because the installation drivers are not downward compatible save info on backup wipe the disk clean and do a fresh install.Sorry!!
