No matter how objective Google might try to be with regards to the characteristics measured, they're still attempting to quantitize a subjective result.

Having disclosed their preferences is a mixed blessing. While such benefits those who have been innocently hampered by not knowing the standards by which they are being judged, it likewise aids those who seek to game the system.

I suppose we'll see, for example, a rush to refresh site pages, so as to give the impression to Google that the site is being actively updated & therefore more current, despite the fact that the real content remains the same.

Thanks for the heads up. This is the kind of material that TR seems to neglect; I guess it's not "techie" enough for them.
