I have several users affected by this problem. What iis happening is when they close out of there programs they get a GPF error and they close it and the program seems to close properly. Also, they then go to Start, Shutdown and then receive the Blue Screen of Death. Please Advise. Thanks Sarah

Usually when you experience problems shutting down Windows there are devices and/or drivers that may be corrupt or are having problems shutting down. There is a Technet article: Q145926 - How to Troubleshoot Windows 95 Shutdown Problems (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q145/9/26.asp?LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0). This article will give you a step by step listing of things to check. Hope this works for you.
I suggest if you have tried most of the obvious culprits to check to make sure that the Hard drive for the machine in question is shared. Even if you have the PC's information in a hosts/lmhost file, if the machine isn't shared, you won't be able tosee it in Network Neighborhood.
The previous answer is good but you may want to try this other first - After seeing this problem often I have determined that using the regcleaner.exe first is the answer 90% of the time. Download the regcleaner from microsoft at:
I would start by going to startup folder. First right click on the desktop and create a new folder. then start then settings then taskbar and startmenu then click the start menu tab then the advanced button then click the plus in front of programs then click startup folder then drag the icons out the folder into the new folder on the desktop then restart the computer then try to shutdown the computer if that doesnt fix the problem then use the control+alt+del to check what is running in the background also do this check when you do that try shutdown from the control+alt+del window to see if that works any better good luck
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
