GPO to prevent network drives displaying Size?

By michael.hume ·
Hello,

Hope I am in the right place to post this question.

Is it possible for a GPO to prevent network drives displaying how full the volume is?. We have Drive Mapping to Shares on our servers for our users. When a user opens his network drives, he can see the Free Space as well as the Volume Size. We would like to hide this info from the user since it creates more questions for them when they see they have GB's of Free space when indeed, Free Space is for their whole dept not just them.

Thanks in advance

Michael

look into a GPO for lockdown the Detail view and only allo the lcon view
User Configuration|Policies|Administrative Templates|Windows Components|Windows Explorer|Explorer Frame Pane|"

"Turn Off Details Pane"
If you enable this policy setting, the Details Pane in Windows Explorer is hidden and cannot be turned on by the user.

If you disable, or do not configure this setting, the Details Pane is displayed by default and can be hidden by the user.

another way may be to do a registry edit on the key

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\

Edit/Create the DWORD value: ClassicShell = 0

or hide "my computer" all together?
