GPOs and subnets

By NatCat ·
I have 3 subnets connected by a frame relay WAN link and only one DC in the main office.
TO combat the bugbear virus I created a GPO that will run a script on logon that will copy the removal tool, run the tool and copy the log file to a central location so I can see which computers are infected.

But on the external sites the script is not running. If there some rule about a GPO only running only machines on the same subnet as the domain controller ?

What are the possible reasons that this GPO doesn't work other than at the main office ?
The group isn't the problem.

There are a few things that could cause this and we'll start with the basics. How many GPOs do you have running because you could have one that has No Override enabled and is keeping the other from being implemented. Are all these subnets on the same domain? Are there sites created for each subnet? Are you applying the GPO to all the places you want? To check, go to Active Directory Users and Computers and right click the item you have the problematic GPO for and go to properties. Go to the Group Policy Tab and click Properties. Go to Link tab and click Find Now. Select the proper domain/object in the drop down. Is the area affected in the list after "Find Now"? Let me know, Jeremy

It's possible that the Group Policy application is timing out over the WAN link.

I would recommend running the GPResult utility on the client machines to see what is going on. If you're able to do that, post the results or link to them for size limits.

This was spot on.
